Significant Internet Failure Affects Dozens Online Platforms and Applications

A widespread internet outage has impacted dozens websites and apps around the world, and users noting issues getting online after problems at Amazon’s cloud computing platform.

The impacted apps include the social media app Snapchat, Roblox, the messaging service Signal, and the language learning app Duolingo, along with multiple Amazon-managed operations including its primary shopping platform and the Ring security device manufacturer.

Across the United Kingdom, the financial institution Lloyds was disrupted in addition to its branches Halifax and Bank of Scotland, while there were additional accounts of problems accessing the HM Revenue and Customs website on that morning.
