Rise, Sir David: Beckham Knighted by King Charles at Windsor Castle Investiture

David Beckham received a honorary title at the historic royal residence on Tuesday. The former England captain, fifty, was among those receiving awards for his contributions to athletics and philanthropy. In recent months, he stated he was “extremely honored” of being acknowledged in the monarch's annual honors list.

Football Career Highlights

The player made his Premier League debut for the Red Devils in the mid-nineties and was part of the team that earned a dramatic European Cup win in the late nineties when they beat Bayern Munich with two late goals.

In total, he scored 85 goals and collected honours including six Premier League titles and domestic cup wins as a footballer, before ending his playing career in 2013. In addition to his sports endeavors, he has supported a number of charity causes, including serving as a goodwill ambassador for global aid group the United Nations Children's Fund since the mid-2000s.

Charitable and Other Roles

In the previous year, the sports star, who has referred to himself as a “devoted monarchist”, was appointed an official representative for the King’s Foundation, an non-profit organization founded by the King in the early nineties. In 1998 he was named most stylish man of the year by a leading publication and he has posed for brands like the fashion retailer, the Italian designer, and the luxury label.

David tied the knot with Victoria in 1999 and the pair have four children together – their eldest, Romeo, the third child, and their daughter.
